Quarrying

Wai Kee Quarry Asia Limited is responsible for Wai Kee Group's quarrying activities. It owns and operates two quarries, in Zhuhai and Shanghai, and one precast concrete yard in Zhuhai, Mainland China. The total sales volume of quarry products in the financial year ended 31st March, 2002 was over 5 million tonnes.

The quarries and precast yard have advanced and large-scale equipment for production of high quality quarry products. Experienced staff supervise the overall production process to ensure all products complying with the required specifications. Wai Kee Group was the first in the Hong Kong quarrying industry awarded the ISO9001 quality assurance system certificate.

Wai Kee Group is one of the largest concrete aggregate and rockfill suppliers in Hong Kong and has supplied quarry products to various large-scale projects such as Penny's Bay Reclamation for Disneyland, Container Terminal 9 Development, the widening of Tolo Highway and Tuen Mun River Trade Terminal.

Its Precast Yard at Niu Tou, Zhuhai is one of the largest locally producing precast seawall blocks, accropodes, slabs and box culvert sections. It was awarded contracts for casting some 14,000 tunnel segments for KCRC West Rail with extremely high quality requirements.

Wai Kee Group has been awarded contracts for site formation work for the Dayangshan Terminal Development in Shanghai. The excavation volume of these contracts is over 2 million cubic meters.

With the commencement of projects such as redevelopment of former Kai Tak Airport in Hong Kong and the high level construction activities in the Yangtze River Delta, the demand for quarry products are expected to increase in the coming years.
